The Gevalia Coffee story(Juh-vol-ya) began in 1853 in the tiny seaport of Gavle (Yev-lay), Sweden where Victor Theodor Engwall had the idea of producing the perfect cup of coffee.

As a coffee merchant with rare dedication to his craft and a personal taste for fine coffee, he began experimenting by combining different coffee beans, roasting and grinding them in various ways, and tasting endless cups of coffee daily to develop a uniquely perfect premium gourmet coffee blend.
